Organic blast abrasives for gentle applications

Organic abrasives come into play whenever the base material must not be altered. Walnut shell and corn cob granulate are ideal for gentle paint removal from delicate components, cleaning of moulds, tools and engine parts or deburring of plastic parts. The materials are biodegradable and have proven themselves in classic-car restoration, aerospace industry, maintenance and electronics manufacturing. Microbeads AG supplies organic abrasives in various grain sizes and hardness grades – tailored to your application.

Walnut shell granulate

Product information – blasting media

200 – 450 µm to 1.700 – 2.400 µm

Walnut shell grit is an angular, very soft, organic and iron-free recyclable abrasive produced from cleaned and milled nut shells and fruit kernels. It is particularly well suited for removing surface contamination without attacking the base material, for deburring thermoset plastics, and for matting aluminium and plastic surfaces. Typical fields of application include the blasting of engine components and the restoration of classic vehicles of all kinds. The product is available in a wide range of grain sizes, allowing it to be precisely matched to the required surface treatment. Accelerated by air or liquid, it effectively cleans and polishes materials, removes elastic coatings and deburrs delicate workpieces. Walnut shell grit is derived entirely from renewable raw materials and is therefore a particularly environmentally compatible abrasive.

Various grain sizes on request

Duroplast is a recyclable blasting medium made from thermoset plastics — comprising urea, melamine, acrylic and phenol, without antistatic additive — and is suitable for cleaning, decoating, deburring, finishing, roughening and matting of surface-sensitive materials without altering roughness profiles, deforming surfaces or causing surface compaction.
Applications include aerospace and space technology, the automotive and plastics industries, mechanical and toolmaking engineering, electronics and computer technology, as well as military applications. Duroplast offers outstanding cost-efficiency, achieving approximately 25 to 30 cycles in the blasting circuit. It is used in both pressure blasting and wheel blast systems.

Soda blast media

Soda blast media

Product Information Abrasive

100 – 500 µm

This specialised blasting medium differs fundamentally from conventional sandblasting abrasives: it is almost entirely water-soluble and, when used correctly, both environmentally friendly and inexpensive to dispose of.
The cleaning effect is based primarily on an abrasive action that causes extremely minor changes to the surface. This makes soda blasting media particularly suitable for mould cleaning, anilox rollers, industrial maintenance work, façade and monument conservation, graffiti removal, classic vehicle restoration, de-rusting and many further applications.
